February 7th Lincolnshire LDC Update Number 44

Dear all………………………..

First of all, may I thank everyone who attended, in a virtual capacity, Nigel’s funeral service last Monday. The numbers who logged on were visible and I know Di and Nigel’s girls would have been comforted by your support.

I am aware how busy everyone is just now and so I am trying to keep these weekly updates shorter and not repeat previous information.

The vaccination programme for Dentists and Dental Teams continue at pace with further invitations sent to Dental Teams on Thursday inviting them to be vaccinated at Lincoln County Hospital. From the response, it would seem that the remaining numbers waiting to be vaccinated are very small, but if you know of any dental team member, either in your own practice or another, who has not been contacted and wishes to be vaccinated, please email us.

I am under pressure from the CCG to provide them with numbers of dental staff who have been immunised. I know I have asked this before, but to date the response has been disappointing, with only 35-40% of practices responding.

Please will you therefore send these details to Sharon at lincsldc@gmail.com ASAP and preferably by close of play on Thursday 11th February. By doing this you enable the CCG to plan their roll out for other priority groups.

Q4 in relation to NHS Practices

I enclose the email NHSE sent out on Friday. If you have an NHS Contract, please read this. It is very important information with respect to the previous years over and underperformance and how this relates to Q4 activity.

Our understanding of this, in simple terms, is that if a practice has underperformed in 2019/ 20, they may choose to make this up now in Q4 or defer to 21/ 22 (which is the default option and the route most practice will take) .

Some (but not all) practices that have only just missed their target may try to make up this underperformance in Q4. If you choose this option, please be aware you have to deliver 100% of previous activity, not 45%, in in addition to the current 45% target for Q4 . I am certain this will the same when practices defer to 21/22.

If a practice has over performed (and in Lincolnshire these practices are very rare) they are likely to carry this over to 21/ 22 unless they are behind target in Q4.

Dental Bulletin

I am aware that Private practices without an NHS contract may not be receiving this weekly bulletin and so I enclose this week’s. There is little new information from previous weeks but a good reminder of what is expected by NHSE. Please share with all your team members.

Updated BDA Contract for Associates for Q4

A new updated contract has just been produced and we would advise practice owners and Associates to consider this version. You can download this from the BDA Website.

Oral Cancer webinar Thursday 11th February at 7 pm

This Thursday Notts. LDC are hosting the above event. This will be 2 hours of CPD in a core and increasingly important topic. The OFMS consultants are keen on attendance from Lincolnshire colleagues as they have quite a few cases from our area.

And Finally ……………..

The next LDC meeting will be an open meeting available to all on Tuesday 25th February. There is a lot happening both locally and nationally and we will hope to update you at this meeting. Please contact Sharon on lincsldc@gmail.com for information on how to join this meeting.

The new financial year starts for us on April 1st and I’m sure practices with an NHS contract will want an idea what plans are in place.

Have a good week and keep safe

Best wishes
